Description
Red Label JOY Combi Filter
Professional Drum Filtration System for Koi Ponds
A koi pond is a precision-managed aquatic environment where water quality, biological stability, and hydraulic performance directly affect fish health and long-term system reliability. TheĀ Red Label JOY Combi FilterĀ is engineered as a compact, high-efficiency filtration solution for small to medium koi pond installations, delivering advanced mechanical separation, reliable biological filtration, and integrated ultraviolet water treatment in a single, serviceable platform.
Designed for professional installers and serious koi keepers, the JOY series provides dependable performance, reduced maintenance requirements, and stable water clarity under continuous operating conditions.
High-Quality Mechanical and Biological Filtration
The JOY Combi Filter utilises aĀ 120-micron filter panelĀ capable of retaining fine suspended solids down to approximatelyĀ 70 microns, ensuring consistently clear and visually pristine pond water. This fine mechanical separation protects the biological stage and stabilises long-term water parameters.
The integrated moving bed biological chamber is supplied withĀ Hel-X biocarrier media, providing a high surface area environment for nitrifying bacteria to support effective ammonia and nitrite conversion.
Automated Cleaning and Integrated Flushing System
The JOY Combi Filter incorporates a built-in flushing pump and integrated drum controller that automatically detects when cleaning is required and initiates a cleaning cycle. This automation ensures consistent waste removal, reduces manual maintenance, and supports long-term operational reliability.
Built-In 40-Watt H-O Amalgam UVC Clarifier
Fitted as standard with aĀ built-in 40-watt H-O amalgam UVC Clarifier, the JOY filter is designed to suppress algae, bacteria, and waterborne pathogens. Integrating ultraviolet treatment directly into the filtration process maintains optimal hydraulic flow and eliminates the need for separate UV equipment in the pipework.
Patented Drum Sealing and Double Brush Cleaning System
As with all Red Label drum filters, the JOY Combi Filter features theĀ patented drum sealing system, which helps prevent water bypass and protects sealing components from ultraviolet exposure, extending service life. TheĀ double brush cleaning systemĀ ensures the waste discharge channel remains clear, reducing routine maintenance requirements.
Ideal for Small to Medium Koi Ponds
With a maximum flow rate ofĀ 20,000 litres per hour (4,400 UK gallons per hour), the JOY Combi Filter is suitable for ponds up toĀ 40,000 litres (8,800 UK gallons)Ā and koi ponds up toĀ 20,000 litres (4,400 UK gallons)āmaking it an efficient, space-saving solution for professional and high-quality private koi pond installations.
High-Capacity Filter Media Included
The Red Label JOY Combi Filter is supplied with 2 m² of Red-X cassette filter mats and 60 litres of Hel-X biocarrier media, supporting immediate commissioning and comprehensive mechanical and biological filtration from day one.

Gravity vs Pump-fed
Gravity-Fed vs Pump-Fed Model Comparison
| Feature | Gravity-Fed Version | Pump-Fed Version |
|---|---|---|
| Installation Method | Installed at pond water level; water flows naturally into the filter by gravity | Installed above or away from pond level; water is delivered to the filter via an external pump |
| Energy Efficiency | High efficiency due to reduced main circulation pumping | Dependent on external pump power and system head height |
| Hydraulic Stability | Provides stable, constant flow with minimal head loss | Flow rate regulated by pump selection and installation layout |
| Noise Profile | Very low | Moderate, dependent on external pump type |
| Maintenance Access | Typically installed in a filter pit for discreet, professional installations | Flexible placement for easier access in above-ground setups |
| Recommended Applications | Permanent koi pond builds and professional installations | Raised ponds, retrofits, and sites where gravity flow is not practical |
